16th Domain Hillclimb – Results
What a magnificent day! Under calm blue skies a full field of competitors took to the Queens Domain for the final (at this stage) running of CMI’s premier event. With the only mishaps on the day being mechanical, drivers took advantage of the great conditions to take class results right down to the final run of the day. Congratulations to Damien Moore, one of our longest term supporters, who took out the overall fastest time of the day in his wicked white Ford Escort.
Keep an eye on Southern Cross News tomorrow night, Monday 22/10 as there will be a follow up to tonight’s news article (jump to 8:19 for the hillclimb coverage).
Thank you to all of our supporters today and over the last 16 years. We really appreciate the many automotive and motorsport businesses who pitch in in various ways to keep events like this running, and to all of the people who donated time and effort to make the event a success.

The 16th and Last Domain Hillclimb
CAMS Supporting Letter to Council
We regret to announce that, unfortunately, this year’s CMI Domain Hillclimb will be the 16th and last.
Following our joint submission to council with CAMS (see links above) in May, Council Parks and Amenities staff working on the Queens Domain Summit redevelopment drafted a proposed amendment to the masterplan to allow for us to continue using the venue. This included provision for annual access to the loop at the top, and using bolt down (removable) speed bumps. This would have been a great outcome and we thank those involved for their recognition of our connection with the Domain.
However, we were recently advised that, at the full council meeting on 20 August, aldermen unanimously voted against the amendment made to accommodate our event, and extended this further to not approving any future motor sport events on the Domain.
We are disappointed at this outcome after 15 very successful years of our event, and before that, motorsport having been enjoyed at the Domain ever since the 1950s.
We hope to see as many of you as possible at the final Domain Hillclimb as competitors and officials in 3 weeks’ time, on Sunday 21st of October 2018.

Lufra 2018 results available
Somehow the weather predicted did not eventuate, and a field of 35 cars enjoyed a suburb Peninsula day with blue skies and sun.
Only a couple of minor mechanical mishaps today, with over 30 cars completing the required 4 timed runs for a result.
Thank you to all officials, including those from Rotary, the wonderful staff at the Lufra hotel, and of course our competitors.
